Event Details

First in the nation to pass a "Benefit Corporation" law, Maryland will soon recognize a new corporate structure for enterprises aligning social values with solid business practices.

Join ChangeMatters and the Grants Collection at Enoch Pratt Free Library / State Library Resource Center for an engaging dialogue on the advantages, challenges, and relevance of existing options and emerging models for social enterprise in Maryland.

Two working dialogue sessions will highlight incentives and support necessary to implement and grow activity in this area.

10:30a to 12:00p Sep 30

Legal, tax, and corporate perspectives on benefit corporations and other models

1:00p to 3:00p Sep 30

Dialogue for social entrepreneurs around Baltimore and Maryland

As the new law takes effect in October, nonprofits, small businesses, funders, and technical assistance resources seek information on alternative "hybrid" corporate and legal models for community benefit. This free meeting is open to the public, and will engage working dialogue sessions facilitated by ChangeMatters colleagues and partners to educate interested parties and generate resource ideas to meet sector needs ahead.

Note: Each event requires advanced registration, max 1 person per RSVP for each event. Registration deadline Sep 28, 2010 or upon maximum capacity reached. Waitlist will automatically provide tickets as cancellations occur.
